Elementary Reading Interventionist
Reading interventionists work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading skill such as:
• letter-naming, initial sounds, phoneme segmentation, and comprehension strategies
• addresses the specific needs of a particular child when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient
• Interventionists work with the teacher to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each child
• It is preferred that the Interventionist is a former teacher and has specific training in the Take Flight methods

Further work includes:
1. Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters related to reading instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base.
2. Design interventions and write lesson plans detailing methods and materials that best support struggling readers.
3. Keep the parents informed as to the purposes and progress of the reading intervention.
4. Work with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress for students getting services.
5. Familiar with the RTI process and Tier’d instruction.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
1. Possess a Dyslexia Endorsement from University of Arkansas or similar program, certification in K-6 elementary education and/or reading specialist
2. Certified in the state of Arkansas

Reports to: The Building Principal

Preferred Skills:
Certified Elementary Teacher or Reading Specialist (preffered but negotiable if working toward obtaining the Dyslexia Endorsement)

 

Gifted/Talented Teacher
First Baptist Christian School, Rogers, AR
Hours for this position are very part-time

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
1. Must possess a current Arkansas teaching license in elementary education
2. Must possess an endorsement to the education degree in Gifted & Talented education

Responsibilities include:
• Conducting necessary testing of students and meeting with parents during screening process and fall/spring conferences
• Preparation and implementation of grade-level work
• Conducting a “reach” class for rising 3rd graders
• Teaching GT for 3rd, 4th, 5th graders- 1 day/week, some field trips and programs for completed unit studies
• This teaching position would require about 5 hours work/week minimum and up to 10 hours/week maximum fo rfield trip or program weeks

 

Preschool Teacher
First Baptist Christian School, Rogers, AR
Hours for this position are part-time

• Education, Training, Experience: Preferred, Applicants shall be 18 years of age or older
• Teachers must be a member of First Baptist Rogers or willing to become a member

 

Substitute Teachers
